The Anome (alternate title: The Faceless Man) is a science fiction novel by American writer Jack Vance, first published in 1973 (copyright 1971); it is the first book in the Durdane series of novels.
Plot summary

It tells the story of a boy growing to manhood in the land of Shant, a society composed of many different, and wildly individual cantons, some of which are run by cults. Each adult wears an explosive torc which can be detonated by remote command, bringing about instant death by decapitation. The torcs are controlled by an anonymous dictator, the Anome, whose identity is literally unknown.
Because those whose heads are exploded are selected primarily by the cantonal leaders, for violations of local law, the Anome is able to operate with only a handful of assistants, or 'Benevolences', who themselves do not know his identity.

E uma vez que todos os regimes têm os seus adversários que são alimentados por aqueles que não são suportados pelo sistema, que não pode ser pela sua natureza totalmente abrangente e Chavez tal como Alberto João ou Fátima Felgueiras ganhou eleições forma justa e limpa, dando aos eleitores trabalho precário ou definitivo, ou dando-lhes electrodomésticos e chouriços e cheques dentista e cheques fraldiqueiros à Fradique Mendes...

É preciso ter um estômago forte, para culpar Chavez duma polícia e exército habituados a matar para resolver problemas, já em 1989, o então presidente Carlos Andrés Pérez dispersava os bandos de saquedores nos protestos que a pobreza lança na rua, a abater manifestantes a tiro tal como Mubarak nos motins de 2007, 2008 e 2009 ou a polícia francesa no século XX e XXI...se morreram 3000 pessoas, quando os motins de Los Angeles só mataram 53 e os da África do Sul só uma centena e os do Quénia umas escassas centenas, essa contagem de mortos numa cidade metropolitana Caracas com uma população similar à de Pequim nos anos 80 é bastante elevada, pois mesmo os motins recentes muitos países africanos e na tailândia raramente ultrapassaram as cinco centenas de mortos


se comparada com a do motim massacre em Kigali-uma cidade minúscula comparada a Caracas num país com 4 vezes menos pessoas é um número ridículo, até porque em Kigali a maioria foi morta à pedrada e à facada que a maioria das massas miseráveis não tinha catanas, armas muito caras....
